All Australians share the benefits and responsibilities arising from the cultural, linguistic and religious diversity of our society.

  • Programs and Publications
    The government's cultural diversity programs and publications.
  • Multicultural Access and Equity
    Australia’s Multicultural Access and Equity Policy seeks to ensure that all Australians are able to access government programs and services equitably, regardless of their cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Government Building Social Cohesion
    Many cultures make up Australian society but we are united by our commitment to Australia. Government policies and services are in place to build social cohesion.
  • Australian Multicultural Council
    The new terms of the Australian Multicultural Council were launched by the Hon. Kevin Andrews MP, then Minister for Social Services, on 15 December 2014. The term will be for a period of three years concluding on 16 December 2017.
  • Australian Multicultural Advisory Council
    The former Australian Multicultural Advisory Council advised the Government of the day on issues related to Australia's cultural diversity and was appointed for two terms, from 17 December 2008 to 30 June 2011.
  • Harmony Day
    Harmony Day is celebrated around Australia on 21 March. It is a day where all Australians celebrate cultural diversity and is also the United Nation’s International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. It's about community participation, inclusiveness and respect — a time to reflect on where Australia has come from, while also recognising the traditional owners of the land.

    A calendar of cultural, religious and national days and events.
  • Multicultural Affairs
    Multicultural Affairs grants are aimed at building socially cohesive Australian communities in which all individuals can develop a full sense of belonging, and participate and contribute to Australian society, Programs include Diversity and Social Cohesion (DSC) grants and Multicultural Arts and Festival (MAF) grants.
